Murata stated that the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred on January 1 caused severe infrastructure damage, casualties and production interruptions, constituting a force majeure event that cannot be reasonably controlled. Murata Manufacturing has done its best to mitigate the adverse impact, but as of January 15 (the time when the notice was issued), it is expected that Murata's Anamizu plant will not be able to resume production before mid-May 2024 at the earliest.
It is reported that supply chain customers have received notice that one of Murata's factories will suspend production until at least mid-May. A list of substitute materials is also provided, and customers are "strongly recommended" to purchase inductor substitute materials from the manufacturers on the list during the shutdown period.
According to the official website of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Murata has confirmed the safety of employees and their families at the production base affected by the Noto earthquake. One employee died unfortunately.

It is reported that Murata Manufacturing has 13 factories in three Hokuriku prefectures (Ishikawa Line, Fukui Prefecture, and Toyama Prefecture), of which 10 factories that produce multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and other products have begun to resume operations.
